Character Backstories

Gur'Thar the Half-Orc Barbarian
Growing up on the streets of Kinth, Gur'Thar became known in the urban underworld for his strength. After getting caught participating in a heist, he was brutally beaten and dumped in an alley assumed to be dead. Gur'Thar then left the city in search of a new life, participating in arena fights and strong man competitions to make a living. Facing harsh discrimination for his race, he learned to channel his anger into fighting strength making him one of the most fearsome participants in the Onderiand arenas. On his quest to find meaning in his life, Gur'Thar's travels ultimately brought him to the small farming village of Welton where he met the rest of our characters near the end of their harvest festival.

Xanaphia Siannofel the Elven Druid
The daughter of a high ranking priest of Ehlonna (goddess of nature), Xanaphia was raised to respect the boundaries of nature, and taught how to access the magic that binds all life together. A skilled student, she advanced quickly in the faith, becoming known in the faith for her somewhat unorthodox beliefs of the church's non-involvement in individual's lives. No one is quite sure what prompted young Xanaphia to suddenly leave her home and religion behind, but she disappeared to all that knew her many years ago leading some to believe her to have died in the vast wilds of Londolar. Appearing in civilization for the first time since she disappeared, Xanaphia met the rest of our characters in the village of Welton.

Mogus Boulderhide the Minotaur Fighter
Kidnapped from his home in the Murg Mountains, Mogus grew up as a slave in Armea working in a limestone quarry. He was eventually sold after fighting his handlers and nearly killing one of them. After being purchased by a ruthless trainer for the fighting pits, Mogus was immediately successful there due to his size, strength, and cunning use of his horns as weapons. Upon winning entry to the gladiator tournaments in Ethelburg, he swept through the competition and won his freedom. Knowing little of the world as a whole, Mogus began traveling and eventually ended up in Welton, where he met the rest of our characters.

Taargus Taargus the Genasi Sorcerer
The story of Taargus begins before his birth, when his mother was exposed to a shard of obsidian from the Elemental Plane of Fire while pregnant. His mother kept the shard, and it's latent power affected Taargus's development leading him to be born a Genasi. His mother died in childbirth and Taargus was sent away to live with his grandmother in Velan. Growing up, he had access to his grandmother's library of magic. It wasn't long before he discovered his innate magical abilities and when he was 10 years old Taargus began his studies in magic. Since he faced terrible discrimination due to his appearance, Taargus preferred to stay inside and practice his magic. Having a natural affinity for fire, he excelled with flame magic and when a fire broke out in town, his skills were instrumental in keeping the fire contained. After that, some of the local townspeople were more accepting of him but many of them still kept a distance, wary of his unnatural form. Facing this discrimination, Taargus left home after reaching adulthood and began wandering the continent looking for a purpose in his life. After months of travel, Taargus arrived in Welton and met the rest of our characters.
